Port Colborne Minor Hockey prides itself on our low registration cost, 
smaller instructional groups, and regular ice times.


    

COVID-19:  

Players, parents / spectators will be required to respect Public Health rules and regulations that might be put in place during the season. Should any Covid-19 protocols be re-instated, they will be posted as soon as they are recieved.  

U11  Pathways programming

The practice to game ratio recommended is  2:1 or two practices for every game played in the early part of the season.  
Fair and equal ice time is an important part of the recreational stream,  where our coaches develop both individual skills and team play and strategy as the season advances.

GENERAL INFORMATION
   

   - The first 6 weeks of the season is the evaluation and developmental stages
   - This year we expect our teams to begin playing games sometime around November 1st 

   - The team will consist of a maximum of 16 players.   15 skaters + 1 goalie  
   - One (1) coaches; One (1) trainer  
    


TOTAL ICE TIME

   - Each child will have a practice most weeks with some exceptions during the season.   

   - Practices will be on a weeknight at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre. 
   - Games are usually played on Weekends; most likely Saturday for one (1) hour, between 8 am and noon. 

   - Games will be played against other centers from around the Niagara Peninsula. 

   - Your child will enjoy approximately (+/-)  forty (40) hours of ice time over the course of the season 
       including pre-season evaluations and playoffs. 
   - PCMHA belongs to the NDLL and the game schedule is produced and managed by the league.   
   - Including exhibition,  regular season and playoffs,  each child will play a minimum of 12 home and 12 away games
     over the course of the season.  



SEASON totals:
  Estimated 40 hours of ice time per child over the course of the season in a small team setting.  
 
This program is designed to further the development each player's individual skating skills and 
  to teach them the basic game strategies. 



 

VOLUNTEERS
We are also looking for coaches, trainers and other volunteers.  To volunteer, please fill out the Online coach and volunteer application under Forms and Apps on the PCMHA website  

Please note that all volunteers are required to have valid certification to the minimum of Respect in Sports (Activity Leader), and a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

FAIR PLAY

     Port Colborne teams adhere to article 12 of the Niagara District Local League manual of operations,  
        EQUAL ICE TIME
        Article 12
        a)  All coaches must strive to provide equal ice time, period by period and game by game, except:
                i) In the last three (3) minutes of a closely contested game                           
               ii) when a coach is sitting out a player for disciplinary reasons as the result of an event that took place prior to or  during the game.

            The emphasis is on creating a fun team-building environment that promotes good sportsmanship
