Atom to Midget  program

Port Colborne minor Hockey offers low registration fees,  smaller instructional groups and regular ice times.  

Under 11 (atom)

COVID-19:    maximum number of participants allowed on an ice surface by the OHF stages

Stage 3b as of September 1st, a maximum of 30
Social Distancing mesures will be in place. 
No parents/ spectators will be allowed in the facility to respect Public Health rules and regulations. 
We are hopeful that the Vale Centre will get approval from PHU to allow spectators in October.

12 home,  12 away  Modified games (3 on 3 / 4 on 4)  
The program consists of 2 ice times per week (with some exceptions) 
             - one shared practice time on a weeknight at the
Vale Health and Wellness Centre
              -one 50 minute game times at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre
              -away games will be against teams from the Niagara Public Health Unit in cohorts of less than 50 players.  



   - This year our teams will be playing 3 on 3  or 4 on 4 modified games starting after Thanksgiving

   - The team will consist of  10 players.   9 skaters + 1 goalie  
   - One (1) coaches; One (1) trainer  
   - Modified games will be played on Full ice 


   - Each child will practice once a week 

   - Practices will be on a weeknight (Tuesday Night with some exceptions) at the Vale Health and Wellness Centre. 
   - Games are usually played on Weekends; most likely Saturday for one (1) hour, between 8 am and 3 pm
      with the older divisions playing on Monday nights at home. 

   - Games will be played against other centers from around the Niagara Peninsula in pods of 50 or less. 

   - Your child will enjoy approximately (+/-)  forty-four (44) hours of ice time over the course of the season.
   - We expect 12 home games,   12 away games,  and approximately 32 shared practices  

SEASON totals:
  Estimated 44  hours of ice time per child over the course of the season in a small team setting.  
This program is designed to further the development each player's individual skating skills and 
  to teach them the basic game strategies. 


The Convener positions for the Novice, Atom, Peewee, Bantam, and Midget divisions are all vacant.   
All interested persons should contact RANDY HUGGINS, our House League Director at their earliest convenience.

Please note that all volunteers are required to have valid certification to the minimum of Respect in Sports (Activity Leader), and a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).

     Port Colborne teams adhere to article 12 of the Niagara District Local League manual of operations,  
        Article 12
        a)  All coaches must strive to provide equal ice time, period by period and game by game, except:
                i) In the last three (3) minutes of a closely contested game                           
               ii) when a coach is sitting out a player for disciplinary reasons as the result of an event that took place prior to or  during the game.

            The emphasis is on creating a fun team-building environment that promotes good sportsmanship
