A Nail Biter
The game got too close for comfort in the third period.

Wainfleet Arena was the site for the match that started out like a lopsided teeter totter.
On the first shift of the game, Dillan started the forecheck and fed a pass to Kohl who shot  at the net, Eric B. slid the puck into the gapping net from the rebound.
On the next shift, another scramble developed deep in the Wainfleet zone and Kyle scored his 4th goal of the season with Charlie and Kaleb getting the helpers.
Then on the very next shift, the Smith Industrial Sailors scored again.  Lukas bulged the twine with the assists going to Jack and Robert.  Less than 2 minutes later Wainfleet slipped one by Keaton who had another strong game.

On the first shift of the 2nd period Dillan scored on a deflection with Kohl and Alex getting the helpers.  Then about 4 minutes later, Kohl redirected Evans point shot to make it 5 - 1, Dillan got his 2nd assist of the game.

Then came the third period.  Between periods Evan told the team, "We started strong, let's finish strong."
It started out that way when 2 minutes into the 3rd period Eric B. notched his 2nd goal of the game, and his 12th of the season to pad the lead by 5 goals. Evan got his 2nd assist of the game while Dillan scored his 3rd assist.  Then something happened.  They lost their mojo so to speak, and gave up skating during the last 10 minutes.  Wainfleet marched back applied some pressure of their own and hemmed the Port boys back in their own end.  The Wild scored 4 unanswered goals to make a game of it.  A real nail biter near the end but we prevailed.

One lesson learned from this game was that we have to play hard every second that we are on the ice.  Never, never, never give up.  No matter what, you have to give it all you got every time you're on the ice for every second, for every minute, no matter what.

A great game by all and a good lesson learned.

Let's play like we did in the first two periods in the Wainfleet game against the Black Hawks next Saturday afternoon.  You kids can do it.  I know that you can do it, so prove it to yourselves and show your parents and other fans that you can do it.

Great game kids!!!!
