A Strong Performance Equals the Win
They came out strong and finished strong.

On Saturday afternoon, the Smith Industrial Sailors came ready to play.  They made their way out onto the ice to start the game and discovered that red on red wouldn't be good, so they switched to their black jerseys.  The first period was an exciting period with pressure applied by both teams forcing both goalies to make some nice saves, but  the Blackhawks opened the scoring with 2:37 left in the frame.  After failing to clear the zone, Thorold managed to stuff a rebound up over Ryan's stick hand glove to open the scoring.

Two and half minutes into the second stanza, Lukas got a pass from Eric B (Dangles) and split the defense to go in all alone and beat the Thorold keeper stick side to tie the game.  Conner got the 2nd assist on the play.  Ten minutes later, Evan plugged the puck into the back of the net with helpers going to Darius and Dangles.  Then just three minutes later, Eric M scored the eventual game winner when he went to the net hard without the puck, and stuffed the rebound home with authority.  Helpers went to Kaleb (Captain Claude) and Kyle as the Niagara Whalers club watched and cheered them on.  This goal was the result of a great hustle.

So off to the third period, where the Smith Industrial Sailors didn't let up at all with their pressure.  Three and half minutes in, Evan made a few nifty moves and danced deep into the Blackhawk zone deking the goalkeeper out of his shorts to bag his second goal of the game.  I rekon that longer autographed stick is doing the trick.  The only assist went to his little brother Lukas.  Then a penalty was called to give Thorold the man-advantage; with just 4 seconds left in that penalty, the Hawks scored a power-play marker to make the game a little closer.  Three minutes later, Kaleb, gained control of a Thorold turnover just outside their blue-line; he used his speed to gain the zone and beat the defense on the outside and buried the puck in the back of the net when he pulled the goalie out of position with a fantastic deke to put the game out of reach.  Then in conclusion Conner scored an empty-net goal with 51 seconds left to close out the scoring.

A great game by all doing what it takes to get the job done.
