A See Saw Battle With Pelham #1
They battled, they played hard, they struggled, they never gave up, they came back, and they won.  They showed TRUE GRIT !!!

The Smith Industrial Sailors were coming off an impressive win over a strong Welland team and still had that desire to earn another win, and that's what they did.  They whole team showed "True Grit" on Tuesday evening coming from behind the whole game to pull the rabbit out of the hat and grab the win.  Their passion to have fun and to win their game vs. Pelham #1 was first on their mind for things to do on a cold Tuesday night.

Pelham opened the scoring late in the first frame, but 4 minutes into the second stanza, Dillan and Kohl did some nifty passing to set up Kaleb to tie the game for the 1st time.  With just under 6 minutes left in the period, the Panthers took the lead again.  But with just 2 seconds left in the period, Lukas fired a shot from the slot that beat the Pelham goalie five hole to tie the game again.  Helpers went to Dutcher and Conner.

When the third period started, the Panthers took the lead again scoring 3 minutes into the last stanza, but "True Grit" can't be denied when Lukas scored his 2nd goal of the game with a wrist shot that bulged the twine just inside the post.  The game was tied again.  Keaton had a very strong game, but his best save was during the third period when he was Cujo-Like making an amazing save.  It seemed he was clearly beat, but he reached back with the backside of his goal stick to stop the black biscuit from entering the net.  Truly an amazing save that would have to be his best of the year.

Shortly after that save, Pelham scored their 4th goal with just over 5 minutes remaining to take their last lead of the game.  This being said because the Sailors never gave up.  They kept on plugging away and manged to tie the game once again.  Charlie's point shot found a hole through a great screen to tie the game once and for all; assist went to Conner and Evan.  Then with 3:09 left in the game, Kohl scored the winner by way of a wrist shot bulging the twine for the last time in the game.  Some hard work by fore checking hard, and some great passes by Kaleb and Dillan, gave Kohl the chance to bury the biscuit and seal the deal on a well deserved win.

This team has a ton of class, true grit, heart and determination that has showed on the ice with their play over the past month, as well as the fun they have together in the locker room before and after games.  They are playing some great hockey and it's just in time for the upcoming tournaments and playoffs just around the corner.  When a team comes together and bonds like they have lately, good things happen. Fun, Respect, Pride, Discipline, and Commitment are the key factors to Champions and that what these kids are....CHAMPIONS !!!

KEEP THE WAGON ROLLIN' BOYS !!!
