Little Mistakes are the Difference
The Metal Roofs Niagara Kids showed a lot of promise in their first game, but fell short on the score board by a score of 2 - 7 in favor of the Thorold Black Hawks #3 team.
The MRN Kids came out of the gates with a passion for fun and victory, but surrendered the first goal to Thorold just 4 minutes into the game. The Blacks Hawks scored their 2nd goal with just :16 seconds left in the 1st period that kind of took the wind out of their sails for a bit.
With 4 minutes gone by in the 2nd stanza, Thorold scored their 3rd goal to take a commanding lead, but the MRN Kids wouldn't give up to easily. Their 1st goal of the season was a power-play marker from a great passing play that had Deven scoring the goal with helpers going to Mason V. and Eric. Two minutes later, Thorold increased the lead by 3 goals for a second time in the game, and then made it a 4 goal game just 22 seconds later. With that never give up attitude, the MRN Kids struck again just 11 seconds later. Deven scored his 2nd goal of the game with assists going to Mason V. and Dillan, but that was where the scoring ended for the boys with Thorold adding 2 more quick goals just 3 minutes into the 3rd period.
The boys had many chances with their determination through out the game; they hit the post twice in the last period but they couldn't catch a break or solve the big Thorold net-minder. They played hard for most of the game, but made a few mistakes along the way that cost them the decision. We will take in mind those mistakes and correct them, the best we can as we move forward into the rest of the season. It was a lesson learned in their first game, and they all know that they will have to work a little harder in the next game and every game after that to bring about a different conclusion.
