The Transition Program

The Transition Program is intended to provide families a path forward to ensure continued participation in hockey. Following the initial 6-week On-Ice Trial, families will have the opportunity to participate in a 10 session program hosted by Port Colborne Minor Hockey Association. The Hockey Canada on-ice curriculum is progressive; moving from a Learn to Play, through the fundamentals of skating and hockey skills, on to a 3 on 3 play environment.

On-Ice Experience

  • 10 sessions / 1 hour per week over a 3 month period  beginning DECEMBER 29th
  • Sessions will continue to be Saturdays at 9:30 am at the VALE
COST  :   $65

  • VOLUNTEERS
  • If you would like to volunteer some of your time by helping out on the ice, please check with the on-ice coordinator Randy Huggins.  Most often this help will be welcomed.  However please understand that volunteers must follow the OMHA regulations.

    On-ice Volunteer Insurance

All volunteers who go on the ice (including coach staff), are required to be covered by OMHA insurance.  Coaching staff and all players in the league are automatically covered.  All other volunteers who go on the ice, and this is without exception, must have this OMHA insurance arranged first.  First Shift covers the $23.00 fee for the insurance however the completed form must to be submitted for enrollment.

    Police Check

A current police check for the vulnerable sector is also required of all volunteers. Fees are not refundable.
