Tournament Rules and Regulations

 

  1. There will be three ten minute stop time periods.

    Teams must be ready to start 15 minutes before your scheduled game.

     

  2. a)  No TIME OUTS during round robin games.  Only ONE time-out per team during regulation time of playoff games.

    b) Only for round robin games:  If at any time during the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period, the spread is greater than 5 goals, the clock will   

         go to straight running time. It will revert back to stop time if the spread is reduced to 4 goals   Round Robin games ONLY.

     

  3. The first team named on the schedule is the home team. (Please check other team’s jersey colours before the filling out the game sheet)

     

  4. Points will be awarded as shown for the round robin games: Goals for will not exceed a total of plus minus of 7.

    3 points for a win

    1 point for a tie

    0 point for a loss.

    The team with the most points from each Pool will advance to the playoff semi-final round.

    NOTE: Novice Division: Top team in each Pool and one wild card team with the most points will move on to the Semi-finals round.

    WILDCARD team: must play a different Pool winner in the Semi-final game

    Atom and Peewee Division: The top team in each pool with the most points after the round robin will advance to the semi-final round.

     

  5. Tie Breaker Format:

    1. Team with most points

    2. Head to head method for two teams only

    3. The tie breaking formula is [GOAL For / (Goals For + Goal Against) = your percentage] The Highest % will move on.

      NOTE: When applying this formula the maximum goal differential in any game shall be no greater than 7

    4.  The plus differential on goals for and against.

    5. The lowest total of goals scored against.

    6. The highest total of goals scored for

    7. The team with the least number of total penalty minutes in the tournament.

    8. If the teams are all still tied after all the above, the tie will be broken by the flip of a coin.

    9. The best looking mom contest, voting done by the Golden Puck Hockey Committee. J

       

  6.  NEW : Sudden Victory OVERTIME rules

    Note: All minor penalties end with regulation time; all misconduct or major penalty still have to be served out, they cannot participate until the penalty is over

    1.  The overtime will be played in 1 minute periods.  NO TIME-OUTS.

    2. No changing on the fly or at any stoppage of play, also the goalie must remain on the ice at all times during the overtime periods.

    3. Minor penalties called during overtime will result in a penalty shot. Coincidental minors shall be served in the usual manor. For the purpose of this rule, any major or match penalties called, will be served in the usual manor and a penalty shot will be awarded.

      Note: Your team will have to submit your players before the game.

      Starting with 4 on 4; 3 on 3; again 3 on 3 and if it is still tied, a sudden death shoot out will occur. (Must use everyone before a player can shoot twice)

      Your team will have submitted a line-up of 4 skaters for the first overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shoot-out)

      Your team will have submitted a line-up of 3 skaters for the second overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shoot-out)

      Your team will have submitted a line-up of 3 skaters for the third overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shoot-out)

      If there is an injury to one of the ten players on the list, you must replace the player with another player off your beach.

    4. If still tied: A sudden death Shoot-out will occur.

      With a player from each team shooting at the same time, will continue until a winner is declared.

      Note: Your team must use all of its players on the game sheet before a player can shoot for the second time.

       

  7. All O.M.H.A. and Niagara District rules will apply plus the above mentioned times and overtime rules.

     

  8. All O.M.H.A. Rosters will be available for production upon request at anytime.

    Protests:  All protests must be in writing and submitted within 30 minute of the completion of the protested game.  Each protest must be accompanied by a $100.00 cash deposit. This will be refunded if the team wins its protest.

     

  9. Suspensions: Any player or team official receiving a match penalty will be expelled from further tournament play.

     

  10. Insurance: The Golden Puck Hockey Tournament or its Tournament Committee, volunteers, advertisers or others directly or indirectly involved in the tournament and tournament event will not be held responsible for injuries caused by or to any player, parent, coaching staff or spectator. Please ensure that all players are covered by insurance before participating in the Tournament.
