MARTIN VAN GOOL MEMORIAL GOLDEN PUCK 58th ANNUAL HOCKEY TOURNAMENT

RULES and REGULATIONS



1      There will be Three ten-minute stop time periods.
        Teams must be ready to start 15 minutes before your schedule game.

2a)   NO TIME OUTS during round robin games,[Only, ONE Time-out per team during the regulation time of Playoffs Games].
  b)   If at any time during the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period the difference of the score is greater than 5 goals, the clock will go
        straight to running time. It will revert to stop time if the spread is reduced to 4 goals.

3      The first team named on the schedule is the HOME Team.
        PLEASE FOLLOW THE COLOR JERSEY ON THE SCHEDULE IN (BRACKETS)

4 Points will be awarded as shown for the round robin:
        Goals for will NOT exceed a total of plus minus of 7.
3-points for a win. 0-points for a loss
2-points for an OT shoot win. 1-point for an OT shoot out loss.

If still tied after regulation time has expired: A sudden Victory shoot out will occur.
With a player from each team shooting at the time, will continue until a winner is declared.
(Sudden Victory) which means if Team A scores and Team B does not, Team A wins.
Note: Teams must use all their players on the game sheet before a player can shoot for the second time.
Unless: team A for example has 10 players and the team B has 15 players, team B may also choose to use 10 shooters, 
if they want.

Notes:
Under 9 Division (all teams will play 4 randoms games, all teams will then be ranked after their games from 1 to 7,
       1st place gets a bye to Sunday).
Under 11 division (Top team in each Pool gets a bye to Sunday, 2nd vs 3rd will play each other on Saturday night to play 1st place team).
Under 13 division (Pool A top 2 teams will move on to P/O. Pool BC - top team in each Pool B&C gets a bye to Sunday. 2nd &3rd in each pool will play Saturday).

5       Tie Breaker Format
         a) Team with the most WINS
         b) Head to Head Method for two teams ONLY.
         c) The tie breaking formula is [Goals FOR / (Goals FOR + Goals AGIANST) = your percentage] The Highest % moves on.
         d) The plus differential on goals For and Against.
         e) The lowest total of goals Against.
         f) The highest total of goals scored For.
         g) The team with the least number of total penalty minutes (including misconducts) in the tournament.
         h) If the teams are still tied after all of the above, the TIE will be broken by a flip of a coin.

6 New: Sudden Victory Overtime rules for the Playoffs are:
Note: All minor penalties end with regulation time; all Misconduct or major penalty still must be served out,
they cannot participate until the entire penalty is over.

a) The overtime will be played in 1 minute periods
b) NO changing on the fly or at a stoppage of play, also the Goalie must remain on the ice at all times during
    the overtime periods.
c) Note: Start with 4 on 4; 3 on 3; again 3 of 3and if it is tied, a sudden death shootout will occur.
    Your team will have to summit a lineup of 4 skaters for the first overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shootout)
    Your team will have to summit a lineup of 3 skaters for the second overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shootout)
    Your team will have to summit a lineup of 3 skaters for the third overtime period (these players cannot be used again unless there is a shootout)
d) Minor penalties called during overtime will result in a penalty shot. Coincidental minors shall be served in the usual manor and No penalty shots for either
team will be awarded. Any MAJOR or MATCH penalties called, will be served in the usual manor and a penalty shot will be awarded.
e) If still tied: A Sudden Victory shoot out will occur.
    With a player from each team shooting at the same time, continue until a winner is declared.

7 All O.M.H.A. and Niagara District rules will apply plus the above mentioned times and overtime rules.

8 All O.M.H.A. Rosters will be available for production upon request at any time. (Protests: All protests must be in writing and submitted with in 30 min. of the completion of the protested game. Each protest must be accompanied by $200.00 cash deposit. This will be refunded if the team wins the protest.

9 Suspensions: Any player or team official receiving a match penalty will be expelled from further tournament play.
