                                                  All the hard work pays off

The Port Colborne Sailors team sponsored by Metal Roofs Niagara and Claire's Delivery, took part in the Henderson Pharmacy Christmas Tournament in Thorold this past week.   After playing five remarkable games in three days, they were crowned as Bantam Champions outscoring their opponents by an impressive 27 - 2 margin.

The Thorold Impact Promotions team earned their way into the Finals to face the Sailors with a win over their home-town rivals, and brought their best effort to try and foil our Port Colborne team.  The first period ended with a scoreless tie, but just twenty-six seconds into the second period Mason rifled a shot past the Thorold goaler witch would become the eventual game winning goal.  Thorold made the game very interesting by playing some great hockey; in the last minute of the second stanza Thorold applied pressure as we couldn't clear the zone, Ryan was called upon to make 4 really great stops in a row to maintain the team's one goal advantage.

The boys knew that they had to play better in the third period to capture the championship, so with just fifty-three seconds gone by in the last period, Darius stepped around a Thorold defender and slammed the puck into the back of the net to give our team that two goal cushion.   Both teams played hard for the next twelve minutes until Conner bagged the third and deciding goal.  That was it... Game Over...  The only thing left to do was to ensure that the team and Ryan record their forth shutout in five games.  Simply put, it was an amazing victory and some memories that each kid will probably remember for a long time.

A perfect effort given forth by every kid and coach on the team. 

You've all come a long way since the start of the season; and I give you a quote from the late great Henry Ford...
