Big Win For Sailors to End The Season
Metal Roofs Niagara Sailors finish the year winning the 2016 Bantam Syl Apps Memorial Tournament

Port Colborne Sailors sponsored by Metal Roofs Niagara traveled to Paris for their last tournament of the year.
The team went undefeated in the tournament winning the championship and ending the season on a great note.  They finished the tournament with a record of 4 Wins and a Tie.
Their first game was a 6 - 0 shutout win for Ryan and the team against Oakville.
They controlled the play for most of the game and peppered the Oakville goalie with about 50 shots on goal.  Cameron led the way with his first career hat trick.
Their second game was a 6 - 3 victory over Paris #2, the host team in our pool.
The boys found themselves down 3 -1 in the second period when the offense came to life and they scored 5 unanswered goals to take their second win.  Deven pitched in with 4 goals.
The third game was against North Middlesex; this team was also undefeated and had yet to allow a goal to be  scored on them.  Again the boys found themselves down 3 -1 in the second period, but they managed to fight back and tie the game.  Seth scored a beauty game tying goal late in the third when he fired the puck  top shelf with all the peanut butter.
North Middlesex managed to finish first in our pool with a higher goals for ratio which
had us destined to face Paris #1, the top team of the other bantam pool.
The Semi Final game was another shutout win for the boys as they won rather easily by a 6 - 0 score.
Off to the Finals against North Middlesex once again.
The two teams matched up pretty even and it was predicted to be a very good game to witness.
And it was!!!
We came out flying when Vanner scored on the first shift of the game, but they tied the game a short time later.
In the second period Dutcher found his legs and stick handled end to end scoring short side on a very surprised goalie to take the lead.  Less then 30 seconds later on the same shift, Kyle intercepted a pass just inside the blueline, and rifled a shot that deflected twice off the defense to beat the surprised goalie once again.
Into the third and final period of the season for the kids, we were up 3 - 1 smelling victory; then with just under five minutes gone in the final stanza, North Middlesex scored to bring the game to a close 3 -2 score.  Just thirty-five seconds later, Lukas scored the eventual game winner when he stole the puck in the neutral zone and buried a wrist shot past the North Middlesex goalkeeper.  The action was furious and North Middlesex managed to score their third goal.  With their goalie on the bench for the extra attacker, the heat was on, but the hungry Sailors team fought hard and held on for the victory.
