BOBBY ORR HALL OF FAME TOURNAMENT
The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame Recap
The Atom Sailors and their families traveled to Parry Sound this past
weekend for the Bobby Orr Hall of Fame Hockey Tournament. They started
the tournament against West Lincoln Wrath. Trailing 1-0 after the first
period the Sailors tied the game 1-1 and then 2-2 before West Linclon
scored 4 straight goals to finish the 2nd period leading 6-2. Not giving
up the Sailors scored 4 unanswered goals in the 3rd to earn a hard
fought 6-6 tie. They were up early Saturday for their second game
against The Kincardine Kanucks and with out the heroics in net they
could have easily been trailing at then end of the 1st however our
strong goal-tending kept the game scoreless after the first period. The
sailors got on the board in the 2nd period and took a 1-0 into the 3rd
however Kincardine found the back of the net late in the game to salvage
a 1-1 tie. The Sailors had 1 final game against the winless North Bay
Trappers. This game was a rough game from the beginning and the sailors
lost 3 of their 6 defence to injuries early in the 1st period. The game
went back and forth and with the sailors down 6-5 they managed to tie it
with 1 second left in the game and finish at 6-6. However after not
winning or losing all tournament long we were tied in points with West
Lincoln but failed to advance to the semi-finals based on Goals for and
Goals Against. The coaching staff and parents were treated to 3 great
games and the entire team showed that no matter the score they would not
give up or get down and play hard to the final whistle. The Sailors are
back in action on Thursday against the Lincoln Blades.
